The captain is back to ramble again.

So, my longstanding feud with DA remains largely intact. I've had works pulled for "violations" that don't make much sense, my works here were no doubt used to train the AI systems that will replace me (if they haven't already) and I always take more flak from critics here than elsewhere. The last one doesn't matter that much, I do enjoy mussing the hair of my critics.

Lately my critics have been less of the puritanical "don't write smut" variety and more people who are upset that the content I'm writing is misogynistic and patriarchal and generally anti-women... which is a tough one to counter, I'll agree. That said, everything I write here (and on my more active FA account) are works of FICTION- I didn't think this needed to be said, but the works of fiction here do not represent how people in real life should be treated, nor does it represent my actual views on women/women's rights/gender roles/the "system"/etc. I write stuff that people (me included) like to read- that's it. Please save your "you evil patriarch!" messages for the people actively looking to harm women's rights; try your local congressperson if you're in the USA.

But, enough of that, what is the future of works over here.

The text editor/viewer on DA is literally the only thing I like about DA more than FA. Well, that and the creators/artists that are on DA and not FA of course. FA is decidedly a more chill place, the community there is great for feedback, and the site isn't trying to push for AI integration into everything, or devising a new scheme every week to wring yet more money out of people. I've debated just posting my stuff on FA going forward, but it feels like giving up if I just stopped posting here altogether. I'm still pissed about the AI thing, and will probably die angry about it, but I've determined I'd rather be drowned out by the inevitable AI takeover than let it march in unopposed.

I don't know what will be moved over here just yet, nor what the future of posting here will be like. There will be more stuff, soon-ish.

Ahoy Mateys!

It be time again for Captain Webb to ramble!

As promised last time, I've posted the first "chapter" of Rock Stack, the new sandbox I'm keen to play with in the future. The way it's built, just about anything goes, so I have a number of concepts in the works already. Let me know what you think of it- I'm keen to make that one as much "fun" for all of you as it is for me.

Next, other stories! More "Charm" is coming. There's a "part" I keep messing around with, and it just isn't "right" but I feel like it's really close.

I have plenty of other prompts in the works, when they'll be done is a mystery even to me. Sometime around New Year's I'll start weeding out the next batch of "dead stories" for anyone interested in new prompts and material to build on.

I will say that I'm less confident than ever in DA as a platform- their recent embrace of AI tech combing through art that isn't theirs to comb through really doesn't sit well with me. While I don't mind actual people borrowing my concepts, robots can get screwed. I find I spend a lot more time at FA, though I'm open to widening my range of haunts if people want to see me other places that are friendly to the sort of work I do here.

I've considered opening up shop on Tumblr again too. While the "ban" over there hasn't been formally lifted, I've seen some blogs get away with some mighty extreme things lately.

Ahoy mateys! The captain be back, and this time with loot to share!

First, I've got the next part of the Charm project posted. I definitely didn't put it on a flash drive and misplace it for several months, that would be ridiculous. I was definitely... uh, fighting sea monsters or... whatever it is pirates do this time of year. More of Charm is coming on a more regular schedule. This one is big.

Likewise, I have another "big" project coming together. I'm creating a unique setting where I can build a lot of more, eh, what's DA's term for it... "ideologically sensitive" stories all centered on the preggo antics everyone here seems to like. My goal is to put out a piece or two that establish the setting, and then every story I want to make after that can just be dropped into that setting, potentially for years to come. I promise this will make more sense when you see it, and that will definitely be before the month is out.

Finally, I've got some things done that I'm on the fence about posting. I'll have another journal about these coming soon when I've had some more time to fully collect my thoughts into something coherent. My hesitation is less about the "preggo" stuff or anything like that, but rather how the setting(s) pertain to current events around the world. Again, more on this very soon.

I'm still doodling things, but given how difficult it is fighting false claims here on DA, I'll probably leave those offsite at FA. The stories that have been damaged by my puritanical critics will be up at FA as soon as I can dig out the master files again.

Ahoy mateys! Captain Howard Webb here with yet more unreasonable ramblings!

So, after much consideration (and finally working up the courage to do it) I've posted some more "art" over on my FA page. I've been working on and off, mostly in spiral notebooks, to try and get better at drawing stuff- and it's been a mixed bag I suppose. All the same, I've found it's still quite a bit of fun to make that sort of thing, and so I'm going to endeavor to make and post more of it going forward.

This won't affect my writing projects at all. I've still got way too many things in the works, as usual.

I'm planning to leave all my drawing stuff over at FA rather than here for a few reasons.

I've found that working with anthro characters is much more forgiving in terms of anatomy than with human characters, so the comics/art/etc. fits better over there.

Then, as I'm planning to adapt stuff I've written, I have a feeling DA might not agree with some of the concepts I've worked with if they're done that way. I'm working on an adaptation of "Payment Processor" and I'm pretty sure that would break a DA rule or two.

So, finally, good person reading this- if you're interested in seeing the weird comics and art stuff I'm planning on cooking up, I have the same username over on FA. If you have zero interest in seeing it, rest easy, as this is the first, and probably last time I'll mention it.

Ahoy mateys! It be time for Captain Webb to ramble on yet again about stuff!

First, I'll acknowledge that this year has been kinda slow. I'm still working on stuff, but, well, you know me. By the time I finally finish the new year thing, it'll probably be next year and so on. I will have something out for Easter, and hopefully some things finalized before the month is out.

Next, the big news! Over the last year and half or so, I've gradually been working on more and more drawing stuff. I've found a unique utility to it, as I'm able to quickly (albeit poorly) sketch out different scenarios, which has actually helped expedite some writing projects where I've been indecisive about the direction I wanted to go with the various projects.

Building on this, I've now hammered out a rough "style" of sorts that looks, at least to me, almost presentable. My main focus have been multi-panel comics and progression sets, though I'll have to brush up on what is/isn't allowed here on DA before I start posting anything. Birth, unbirth, and the like probably straddle the line a bit I'd wager.

Something else worth mentioning, I've come up with a fresh twist on the "Baby Game" concept. As I expect it'll take me an age to get it done, and the current "prototype" is a series of graphic doodles, I'll try and hammer out the mechanics into another post in the junk section sometime soon. Suffice it to say, there's now a major incentive to win the game... or rather, not lose!

I wanted to thank you all again for your continued readership and support. I'm always surprised when I log in and see that a whole bunch of people have added my stuff to their "favorites" and whatnot. I'm glad to think the works I've put out are still being read and enjoyed, some many years after they were initially published. To you my friends and fans, thank you.
